The Westwood Sessions – under 25’s open-mic
Friday, Saturday, Sunday
The 1690 Bar
Celebrating young, emerging talent; run by students for students. Artists of tomorrow, today.
The team are back for their 5th year at the festival running both an open mic and recording sessions, exclusive for the under-25s.
This year they are collaborating with the local and well-established Off The Road for their ‘The Westwood Sessions Live’ open-mic. Both the Westwood Sessions and Off The Road aim to provide platforms for young emerging talents in Hull and East Yorkshire; this collaboration will open up the opportunity of performing at Beverley to plenty more young people from the local area. Anyone aged 25 or under who turn up on the night wishing to perform, will be guaranteed a performance slot. However, you can register your interest by emailing email@example.com.
Bar 1690 will be the only venue onsite providing early entertainment from 4.30pm on Friday 16th, with their open mic. It will also be taking place on Saturday 17th from 7.30pm. Fancy performing? Whether you’re on your own, with some friends or in a band, get in touch via email or just turn up.
The team are also offering private recording sessions during the daytime of the Saturday and Sunday, courtesy of Nathan Connell and East Riding College. Those interested can book slots at the evening events, by popping along to the sessions during the day or by registering interest via email. Recording hours will be 10.30am – 5.30pm. A fully mixed and mastered CD of a recording session is priced at £5.
Artists performing at the festival often pop into the sessions, giving young people the chance to meet the professionals. The Westwood Sessions have now developed into a spin-off from the festival with showcases throughout the year of new and old talent.
Entry to The Westwood Sessions is included within all ticket types, including the £3 entry to the Festival Village.
The Westwood Sessions is luckily supported and funded by Beverley Town Council.
