Promoting Sustainable Transport at Beverley Festival

Beverley Festival is situated within a 5 minute walk from Beverley Train Station on the Northern Rail Hull-Scarborough routes with links from Hull to York, Leeds, Manchester and London. National Express serves London and Glasgow and York through its Coach and East Coast Train Service. For national rail enquiries, check out the National Rail Website.

For Cyclists - check out www.everydaycycling.com for a wealth of useful information on cycling around the UK.

If you cannot travel by foot, bicycle or rail/coach, consider liftsharing and check out the Beverley Festival page on Freewheelers. Sign up and help us to reduce unnecessary harm to the environment. A great way to get to know people on the way to the festival.

The festival is embarking on a three year plan to try to improve environmental efficiency at the festival, but we NEED YOR HELP to make it happen.

If you have any good ideas to help us to promote sustainable transport to the festival, please do email us and let us know.

'CO2 -Now we know what we're doing - do something about it

We have collected some basic statistical data about CO2 emissions from festivals and DEFRA statistics for emissions from different modes of transport. And the truth is out! However hard festival organisers try and promote green energy and reduce CO2 on-site - it is the carbon footprints of fans travelling to and from events which does the most harm. At an out of town site with a nearby rail link, the most environmentally friendly way to travel (if you can't walk or cycle) is rail and ride, followed by coach, followed by the car. But to be fair, a multi occupied car (at least three) obviously reduces individual carbon footprints and four or more is fairly environmentally friendly. '
